A 36-year-old mother, Telesia Fili, of Falese’ela Lefaga needs your help.

The mother is seeking the assistance so that her 12-year-old son, Samuelu Atonio Maiava, could get treated for a heart condition he has.

“In 2011 my son had a heart problem,” she said.

“He was born as a normal child but because of eating Chinese lollies (lole saiga and pa’umago) and uncooked noodles when he goes to school, this is the result of it.

“We admitted him to the hospital at Leulumoega on the 23rd of July 2011 and the doctor told me that my son has a heart problem. The doctor said it was because of the food that he eats and so they told me to ban him from eating salty and sweet food and drinks, oily food as well.

“The doctors at Leulumoega then referred me and my son to Moto’otua Hospital because they have better equipment.”

Since 2011, the trip to the hospital has become a regular one for Ms.

Last year, however, she received some more bad news.

“The doctors have been trying to take my son overseas for treatment however they said they cannot take my son because there is nothing they can do because my son’s heart is enlarging,” she said.

“They said because his heart is expanding they are worried that something might happen to him on the plane.

“They say there there is no point of taking him overseas when there is nothing that they can do.

“So in my mind the only thing left for my son is to wait and hope for a miracle.”

As Samuelu’s mother she will not take no for an answer. That’s why is seeking help from the community.

“I can’t just sit there and wait for my son to die because what kind of mother would I be if I don’t seek for help,” she said.

“I remember S.V.S.G and the help that they provide for the people so I went there today asking them for any help that they can give for my family.

“This is my only hope.

“I have nowhere else to go.

“The doctors told me that there is nothing that they can do so I came here hoping that maybe someone can help me.

“If not then I don’t know what else to do.

“I am not ready to let my son go, he is too young and he has his whole life ahead of him and dreams that he needs to fulfil.”
