More than 80 students graduated from 11 different programmes at the Australian Pacific Technical College (A.P.T.C) yesterday.

The graduation was held at Tuanaimato Gym 1 where Caretaker Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi congratulated the graduates.

“The graduation ceremony marks the culmination of another successful academic year for the 88 graduands and their families,” he said.

“It is a day of celebration and acknowledgement of the hard work and combined efforts of the students, lecturers, sponsors and parents.

“Your achievement is effectively resembled in the kind words of King Solomon when he utters, 'A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother'.”

Tuilaepa reminded the graduates not to forget the people who helped them along the way.  “You have also probably been told before with good reason that obtaining your qualification is only the genesis of your journey into your career,” he said.

“Samoa is definitely not short of graduates but the daunting challenge is finding committed, reliable and credible graduates to serve our country and people. “Nevertheless the discipline and ambition that enabled you to graduate sets you on the right track in your journey.

“I wish each and every one of you every success for yourselves personally for your families and for the contribution you made for the future of our country and its leadership.”

Ricky Rachel Sale, who graduated with a Certificate III in Community Service Work, spoke on behalf of the graduates to thank the lecturers, parents and families for their support. “To the government of Australia thank you so much for your vision and your support that has brought us to where we are now,” he said.

“You have imported the spring of wisdom and opened wide a variety of opportunities for us Samoans as well as for our Pacific neighbours.

“The knowledge and skills you shared with us will go a long way to bring a better future for Samoa, our community, our families, our workplace and in our services for God and the church.” He also acknowledged his graduates for making it this far.

“To my fellow graduates, I congratulate all of you for your hard work, patience and true love for your parents,” he said.

“Keep in mind this is not the end of it, this is just the beginning for a greater achievement and success in life.

“Remember and treasure all the good memories we had of A.P.T.C as we are now in its history books as A.P.T.C graduates of 2016.”
