“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

The scripture laid the foundation for the work of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration for this year.

The staff of the Ministry  - including Judges and lawyers – gathered at Mulinu’u to commit their work for 2017 to the Lord. Those in attendance included the Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi was also present.

Father Patele Paulo Filoialii conducted the service.

For the Chief Executive Officer, Papali’i John Tamalelagi, the start of a new year presents another opportunity to continue the work and improve on some of the things that could be improved upon.

He told the Weekend Observer that one of their goals this year is to launch a Corporate Plan to guide the work of the Ministry over the next few years.

They are looking to launch this in February, he revealed.

The overarching goal is to improve the delivery of services for members of the public.

“I think the first thing we have to look into now at the beginning of this year is to improve our services at all levels,” he said.

“We want the services provided by the Ministry to meet the high standards expected by people from time to time.

“Not only that but to meet the need of our people in whatever services that they need from us.”

Papali’i said him and his staff are ready and more than willing to serve Samoa to the best of their ability. The Court sittings are scheduled to resume on Monday.
