There was just cause to be celebrating for the Chan Mow family and friends on Friday last week as family members from far and wide came together for a day of celebration and thanksgiving to mark the 90th birthday of the matriarch of the family, Lotte Chan Mow.

A celebratory mass officiated by Father Vilo Hansell at the Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Siusega was attended by the Head of State, Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Chinese Ambassador to Samoa, as well as close friends and family from Samoa and overseas.

Although constant for most of the day, the rain falling outside did little to dampen the atmosphere of love and respect from those who came to share Nana Lotte’s birthday celebrations.

After the mass was completed the celebrations moved to a reception dinner hosted by Lotte’s family at The Orator Hotel.

A birthday speech presented to Lotte by the Head of State, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Taisi Efi was one of many speeches paying tribute to this beautiful and wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Once the formalities were over guests were treated to some fabulous fine fare, song and dance and live entertainment from a visiting Hawaiian 3 piece band who had everyone up on the dance floor, including Lotte when she performed her birthday siva.

The Chan Mow family also marked the special occasion with a family reunion on Sunday at St Therese Retreat & Resort attended by family from American Samoa, New Zealand, Australia, Kona, Hawaii & Seattle.
