Happy 8th birthday, S.S.A.B.!
Samoa Stationery and Books (S.S.A.B) celebrated its 8th birthday yesterday.
To mark the auspicious occasion, the company did exactly what it has made it simply the best in Samoa over the years. It allowed its customers to be part of the celebration, giving them plenty of options with special deals and lots of fun to be had.
To make the day extra special, Miss American Samoa Antonina Lilomaiava, who is a former employee of S.S.A.B Pago, was present. Santa Claus was also there to the delight of children.
“This is a day of celebration and also a special day for S.S.A.B to give back to our customers for their continuous support throughout the years,” said the Managing Director and Owner, Fiti Leung Wai. “I am very honoured and humble to be used by the Lord to be a blessing to not only S.S.A.B employees but also to our Samoan people.”
“Eight years have just been full on with project after project. Today is a day that S.S.A.B wants to give back to the community by selling a lot of those products at prices where S.S.A.B isn’t making any profit but it’s just our way of saying thank you.”
Reflecting on the past 8 years, Mrs. Leung Wai said the growth of the company has been exponential and she puts this down to the support of Samoa.
The opening of the Sei Oriana Gift Shop in New Zealand is easily one of the highlights.
“The branch is to help our handicraft markets here in Samoa to increase revenue. It is also to generate opportunities for our local kava bowl makers, seamstresses, local crafts people and all the local fashion designers.”
“Another reason why I am happy for the branch in New Zealand is because I also want to increased remittances where people overseas can buy the products and remit the money back here.”
Asked about the challenges, Mrs. Leung Wai said there have been plenty but none that could not be overcome.
“Throughout the eight years some of the challenges for instance include our expansion overseas, finances. We encountered some logistics issues with the delays,” she said.
“[And] just trying to coordinate everything with time constraints. However we overcame all that because of our faith in God, He was able to help us get through it all.”
The C.E.O also said that not only it is the 8th birthday of S.S.A.B but it is also the opening of their new complex.
“Part of SSAB’s Birthday celebration is the opening of the newly established complex inclusive of S.S.A.B’s newest conference room, Library for the S.S.A.B employee’s children on the first floor and Aumua Ming Leung Wai’s Law Firm on the second floor,” she said.
“As my heart is really for education and I have helped Samoa substantially but now it’s time that I also look at my own employee’s children. I want them to be blessed so I want to help them in education because education is the key to open doors to all opportunities.”
S.S.A.B also held a Kids Fun Day for all the children of Samoa to enjoy.
“It is a very exciting day for the kids too because we have Kids Fun Day,” she said. “They are actually welcome to come to our fun day where we have the bouncing castles and face painting and they just paid $2 to have fun here at S.S.A.B.
“The money that we will be collecting from the Kids Fun Day will be donated to Mapuifagalele Home of the Elders.
S.S.A.B’s conference room will be available to the public this week while Aumua’s Law Firm is not opened until next year.
