A mother of four, from Tanumapua, is worried about her children’s health.

Moe Vui is in need of mosquito nets and tarpaulins for her family.

The 34-year-old says without mosquito nets, there’s a risk that her children could be exposed to diseases such as dengue fever.

Describing their surroundings to the Village Voice team, she said there is no one to keep it clean because her husband works and he is the only breadwinner for their family.

“We have not being cleaning our surroundings recently because my husband has been so busy with his work as a security guard.”

“I could have been doing the cleaning, but I have to look after my infant child in the house, while my two eldest kids attend school.”

“Rainy days are the worst days to be here because of mosquitoes and we have to buy enough mosquito coils.”

“I think the only time our surroundings will be cleaned is when my husband works night shifts instead of the morning shift.”

Mrs. Vui said having her husband as the only income earner is a struggle because whatever he makes is not enough.

“My husband’s pay is not that much and that is why I really want to work, but I’ll just wait until my youngest child attends school.”

“We just spend our income wisely so that it can be able to cater for us in terms of daily food, as well as paying our bills and any family obligations.”

Mrs. Vui said the recent cyclone had partially damaged their house.

She said some of the tarpaulins they used were torn because of the strong winds and that is why she needs help with some new ones.
