The ‘Army of Kins’ are the undisputed champions of Samoa’s Best Dance Crew competition, hosted and televised by S.Q.B TV One.

The crew from the village of Vaiala, walked away with $7,000, having won the finale at Gym 1 Tuanaimato on Friday night.

The gym filled with so many supporters of the crews that made it to the top 10.

S.S.A.B. was the major sponsor of the event.

Talking to the Samoa Observer, group leader Numia Viliamu, spoke about the challenges they went through in trying to reach the top.

“I feel very happy for the path that we took was not always sunshine and rainbows,” he said.

“We took a challenging path to reach where we are today. It was tough because we barely had any rest. I guess that God will always bless those who work hard,” he said.

The 22-year-old said their passion for dancing grew from observing Samoa and its development.

He says there are still some people who do not take dancing seriously so their group was out there to showcase their talents.

There are 14 dancers in the group and they all come from different villages, but because they camp at Vaiala, they decided to represent this village.

Urban Dance Crew, from Vaimoso was place second.

Group manager, Reti Falaniko shared their experiences and their preparations leading to the finals.

“I am proud of the boys and their performances, they were only given a week to prepare for the finals and they worked really hard to make sure that everything would fall within their favour, and second place is not a bad thing, it means that there is still more room for improvement,” he said.

“Due to this experience, I know that this will not stop the boys from pursuing their talent, dancing is something that they are passionate about and I know that we will be coming again next year,” he added.

The results:

1st Place: Army of Kins

2nd Place: Urban Dance Crew

3rd Place: Bradaz Dance Crew
