Ronny Tamaese of Falefa was shocked his family was the recipient of a food hamper and toys courtesy of local firm Island Rock.
The 35-year-old lives with his wife and four children and were one three families chosen to receive food hampers like a box of tinned fish, noodles, box of crackers, sacks of rice, sugar as well as toys for the children as part of Island Rock’s 25 Days of the Spirit of Christmas Campaign.
The campaign targeted families that were featured this year in the Village Voice column of the Samoa Observer.
“We are truly blessed during this festive season, due to your kindness my family will have enough for our daily meals throughout Christmas and New Year’s.
“I truly believe that if you do good and share what you have with those in need, God will bless you with more than what you have given.
“On behalf of my family, I extend my sincere gratitude towards the company of Island Rock, who are we that you have reached out to, pardon my family because we have nothing repay thy generosity,” he said.
Ronny added that their family could only offer prayers of blessings upon the company for helping them.
“As you can see, my family struggles daily and with whatever we can get; we are more than happy and grateful for it. This is the first time something like this has happened.
“Not every day a kind heart can give you food for free and not ask for something in return.
“We were featured on the Samoa Observer because we were seeking assistance with our water supply and accessibility to electricity, due to financial difficulties,” he added.
The father-of-four added that he is the bread winner of the family but currently unemployed, and depends on fishing as a source of food and income for his family.
Island Rock representative, Tapunuu Kevin Iene, told Ronny and his family that their campaign is focused on giving back to the community.
“Our company wishes to share the spirit of Christmas which is focused on giving to selected families and organizations.
“The campaign is ongoing for 25 days from the 30th of November to the 24th of December and it will feature a variety of programmes and activities,” he added.
