Local companies came together to lend support to the National University of Samoa’s (N.U.S) Music Programme students during a one off performance last Saturday evening at Sails Restaurant and Bar, Mulinu’u.

The popular Taula Beverage Samoa Company and the well established Le Well Company joined forces with Sails Restaurant and Bar to showcase the “Opeloge Ah Sam and the N.U.S Jazz Quartet” in a relaxed and informal setting.

It was an exciting sample of the collaborative work by Auckland based music teacher and mentor, Opeloge Ah Sam with the N.U.S/ Faculty of Education’s Music Programme.

Opeloge Ah Sam has been working with the N.U.S Music Programme students in the past few months.

Mr. Ah Sam was joined by ardent and popular local musician Michael Tamanikaiyaroi, and students Titi Ramese, Apa Kotimani Taavao, Tautane Nu’u,  and Foaina Asovale of the National University of Samoa.

“It’s important for us, the business community to support our young and emerging artists where we can, especially when we see talented Samoans as Opeloge Ah Sam, - they make a commitment to sharing their knowledge,” said Lyvia Black of Sails.

“We believe we can all contribute in small and/ or exponential avenues.

“We wish to Thank both Taula Beverages Samoa and Le Well Company for helping us support this Opeloge Ah Sam and the N.US Jazz Quartet performance.” A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Opeloge’s work with N.U.S Music Programme.

The Jazz Evening was well attended by several well established local musicians and composers, choreographers, N.U.S Management and the local business community.

Look out for Opeloge Ah Sam’s next Production with the N.U.S Music Programme this Wednesday evening, 18th October the “SIVA MAI”.
