Methodist church pays tribute to elderly mothers

The Methodist Church paid tribute to mothers who are 80 years old and are still serving not only in the church but also the Au Uso Fealofani (Mothers Fellowship).

On Monday night at Faleula, they were honoured during a service attended by their church family, friends and relatives.

The service marked the beginning of the Women’s Conference, which precedes the Church’s annual conference.

The President of the Methodist Church in Samoa, Reverend Apineru Lafai congratulated the mothers.

“You have been recognized by the church and also the Au Uso because of your long service within the church,” he said.

“Tonight we say thank you for all the work and for your willingness to serve the Lord within the church and also in every other thing that you do.”

The President also used the opportunity to welcome church members who have travelled from overseas just for the conference.

“You have come from afar just to be here,” he said. “You chose to come here because of the work of the Lord, you have been looking forward for this for a whole year.

“You made a choice of coming to Samoa for this conference rather than going somewhere else for a holiday, you have sacrificed all your need for God’s work and so for that the Lord will bless you abundantly.

“This is the day that we have all been discussing in the past years and so we should thank God for His guidance upon all of us that He has brought us all back for this event.

“As for the elders who were recognised today may the Lord add many more years to all your lives to continue on serving Him and his work through each branch that you are serving Him from.”
