Western Union has launched a Zero Fees campaign for all transfers to Fiji.

Effective on 1 March for one month, the initiative is to assist the people of Fiji after Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Samoa is one of the 22 countries from the Pacific, including New Zealand and Australia who are running the Zero Fees campaign.

Deputy General Manager of Fexco Samoa, Mulipola Anarosa Molioo, said they are pleased to be able to help.

“Fiji and Samoa have a very close relationship which had been fostered over the years,” she said.

“We have a significant population of Fijians working and studying in Samoa, and Fijians married to Samoans making Samoa their homes.”

There is also quite a number of Samoans who are studying and working in Fiji.

Creating strong ties between the two countries is one of the reasons for this campaign, said Mulipola.

“It is vitally important to the country and people of Fiji especially after the great devastation from the Tropical Cyclone Winston,” she said.

“For Samoa, this is a great way to show our support for our children, families, friends, colleagues and people of Fiji.”

She went on to say that FEXCO will also be donating to all the stall owners whose stalls were destroyed by the devastating fire at the Savalalo flea-market.
