Bluesky values the community and their customers. As such, the company has stepped up to lend a helping hand to the Samoa Offering Hope (S.O.H) campaign, with a donation valued at $1.9m in terms of products and services.

The donation was announced by Bluesky’s Country Manager, Alex Abraham, on Friday in the presence of S.O.H Chairperson, Adele Kruse.

Each of the 200 victims will receive a Bluesky Turbo handset with 1000MB free data, 1000 free minutes and 1000 free minutes to any local number every month for the next six months.

In addition to the mobile service, Bluesky is also offering free landline calling, 1000MB free broadband and free Moana TV for the next six months for all the victims.

This six-month service donation values between $6,500 – $7,000 in mobile network services and will be available for each of the victims.

The goal of this service donation is to limit the cost of communications for the victims as they attempt to rebuild after the fire destroyed their small businesses at the Savalalo Market.

“The Idea is to free the victims of the costs of mobile services while they get their businesses back up,” Mr. Abraham said.

“This will relieve them of that telecom cost and we are happy to help in that respect.”

Mr. Abraham said he was sad when he heard about the fire. “I was in Hawaii when the fire happened and it came as a great shock to me,” Mr. Abraham said.  “And I thought about my friends who were affected so we immediately started talking about how Bluesky can help.”

S.O.H provided the opportunity for Bluesky to finally act on their plans to help

“I was very glad when we were approached by the S.O.H team as we were keen to find out how we can help these people recover and rebuild after the flea market fire,” Mr. Abraham said. This offer will not only benefit the victims for the six-month period.

“After the 6month period they will be able to continue using that handset and we hope that they remain a Bluesky customer” Mr Abraham said. Ms. Kruse acknowledged Bluesky.

“This is more than what we imagined,” she said. “This is fantastic because for six months they will have something to use to release the burden of paying for mobile services.”

Ms. Kruse sees the value in what the service provides “This donation may not be in monetary form but sometimes people confuse cash with value and this offer holds such great value to the victims.

“We can always give money to the victims which can run out instantly if not used properly but this donation will benefit them in the long run.”
