Network security takes centre stage

A three-day workshop on Network Security and Internet Resource Management was held in Apia this week.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (A.P.N.I.C) and Computer Services Limited, Samoa.

The objectives of the workshop were to examine the key concepts, protocols and the policies involved in establishing and maintaining security for a network.

The training also aimed to build understanding and familiarity with network operation and examining device and network infrastructure security with a focus on different layers to establish robust, stable and secure network and protect the data and process that occur in the network.

The training was attended by more than thirty participants from the public and private sector. 

The participants came from Computer Services Limited, Digicel Samoa, Electric Power Corporation, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Police, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, National University of Samoa, Office of the Electoral Commissioner, Samoa National Provident Fung, Samoa Water Authority and Unit Trust of Samoa.

A.P.N.I.C. is the Regional Internet Registry for the Asia Pacific Region.
