Members of the Methodist Church at Vaitele-Fou, Vaipoto-o-Manū-o-le-Atua officially celebrated the opening of their new church building and their Pastor’s house yesterday.

The two projects took six months to complete at the total cost of $727,172.46.

The President of the Methodist Church, Reverend Apineru Lafai conducted the opening ceremony. He highlighted the fact “the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it” belongs to him.

“Let us rejoice in the Lord for He is the Chief Carpenter, in whom the building is completed.”

The Church’s Senior Pastor, Reverned Lone Urima, said the completion of the project is a moment to celebrate. He acknowledged everyone who contributed.

“To the Methodist Church, all the leaders, churches in Samoa and overseas, not forgetting the hard working members of the church here at Vaitele-Fou, I want to say fa’afetai tatalo, fa’afetai lagolago!"

“May God the Father of all continue to bless us.”

The President of the ‘Auuso, Seti Lafai, cut the ribbon.

Church members and families raised funds through their tausala, barbeque, month contributions and other forms of fundraising.

There were also donations from families in Samoa and overseas.

The service was well attended by the church leaders from overseas and Samoa – including the Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, Minister of Works, Papali’i Niko Lee Hang and village’s Member of Parliament, Lealaipule Rimoni Aiafi.
