How not to sing the Samoa Tula’i national anthem

An undated video of how a Fijian singer butchered the Samoan national anthem during an netball game between Samoa and Silver Ferns is going viral among the Samoan community.

The singer who was introduced as a music student did not know the lyrics, mispronounced many of the words and musically, he was flat.

And when he insists to continue on, even the players couldn’t help themselves.

It was farce.

One of the best lessons on how NOT to sing – or insult a nation – with their proud national anthem.

With so many Samoans living and studying in Fiji, perhaps next time just get one of them to sing the anthem.
