Marist primary appoints new prinicipal
Fijian educator Joeli Koroiravudi will join Marist Brothers Primary School as its new principal starting in July.
Koroiravudi, a Marist old boy himself, said he is honoured to take on the role.
“I am deeply honoured to take up this appointment in Samoa and look forward to working with the school community,” he said.
“I want to support quality education, strengthen Marist values, and help the growth and well-being of students and staff.”
The Marist Brothers Governance Board chair, Tuatagaloa Aumua Ming Leung Wai, said the appointment reflects the school’s goals.
“Our main goal is to make our Marist schools institutions of excellence,” he said.
“We believe Mr Koroiravudi is the right person for the job. He understands the Marist Spirit, which makes our schools unique."
Tuatagaloa said that Koroiravudi also sees this role as a calling.
Koroiravudi will move to Samoa with his wife and youngest children to begin his role in July.
Koroiravudi is a Marist old boy with more than 25 years of experience in education and is currently the head teacher of St Marcellin Primary School in Suva, Fiji.
Koroiravudi was educated at Marist Brothers Primary School and Marist Brothers High School in Suva before training as a teacher at the university. He is married with five children. His wife, Sainiana Tuibenau Koroiravudi, is also a teacher and currently teaches English at the Marist Champagnat Institute in Suva.
The board also thanked outgoing principal Brother Siaosi Ioane, who has led the school for the past nine years. During his time, the school saw stronger staff unity and improved student literacy.
Brother Siaosi will now serve as Coordinator of the Marist Brothers in Samoa.
