Head of State issues warrant for Vaimauga No.3
A Warrant of Election issued by Head of State Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II at Vailele on 4 May 2026, pursuant to Section 84(2)(b) of the Electoral Act 2019, stated that Lautimuia Uelese Vaai was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Electoral Constituency of Vaimauga No.3.
The document was signed by Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II in his capacity as Head of State.
Lautimuia Uelese Vaai secured a landslide victory in the by-election, defeating his closest rival by 806 votes following the official count completed on Saturday.
According to the official count completed on Saturday, Lautimuia Uelese Vaai, who was running as an independent candidate, received 1,802 votes. Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party candidate Taioliiseu Fiti Aimasau secured 996 votes, while Human Rights Protection Party candidate Tuumaalii Fomai Sapolu received 573 votes. Independent candidate Puulatamai Filemoni Filemoni polled 474 votes.
The election was triggered when Taioliiseu resigned as HRPP MP to join the FAST Party.
