Youth leader gets additional Commonwealth honours
Youth leader Jasmine Koria has continued to gain international recognition, securing additional honours from the Commonwealth Youth Magazine since her initial award.
Koria, who was previously named Correspondent of the Month, has since won the award twice more. In December 2025, she was also commended by the magazine’s editor after one of her articles became the most-read publication of the year, a first for Samoa.
Her latest achievements follow the completion of a mini-series highlighting young Samoan leaders contributing to national and regional development.
The series featured Alo Tuaifaiva Johannes Uili, a lecturer at the Faculty of Education at the National University of Samoa; Letoa Jonathan Pa’u-Chang, a Fulbright alumnus and Japan MEXT PhD scholar; Tapunu’u Vensel Margraff, an engineer and University of Auckland PhD researcher who also represents Samoa in wrestling, boxing and mixed martial arts; and Fogamomi Nicc Moeono, Samoa’s Nationally Determined Contributions in-country facilitator with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and a PhD candidate at the University of Waikato.
All profiles were published by the Commonwealth Youth Magazine and were commended by the editor for their quality and inspirational content. The series marks the first time a Samoan writer has produced a Commonwealth-level journalistic series focused on local youth.
Koria remains the only Commonwealth Correspondent representing Samoa and the Pacific. She is encouraging more young people from the region to join the network and share Pacific perspectives on a global platform.
