A 32-year-old man was jailed for 18 months for a repeated offence of possession of narcotics by the Supreme Court.

Tulolo Lotele pleaded guilty to imprisonment for possession of marijuana and utensils.

According to the police summary of facts, Lotele's vehicle was searched by police at Tauese on 6 January this year.

Police found 12 marijuana cigarettes, two clear pipes and a portable scale.

Lotele was denied bail by the Alcohol and Drugs Court because of previous offences of the same crime.

Justice Leutele Mata Tuatagaloa started with two years and deducted 25 per cent for the defendant's early guilty plea.

Justice Tuatagaloa, in her sentencing, told the defendant that she hoped he would learn a lesson from being sent to prison and that after serving his time in prison he will become a good citizen of Samoa.

The defendant is from the village of Saina and is unemployed.
