Government releases edited version of health speech
An official video posted on the government’s Facebook page appears to have been edited from its original form to cut out a portion that went viral.
The section containing a mispronunciation by Health Minister Va’aaoao Salumalo Alofipo appears to have been removed and replaced with dubbed audio of the Minister correctly saying the word.
However, a separate clip circulating on Facebook shows Health Minister Va’aaoao Salumalo Alofipo laughing off the mispronunciation during his speech at the official handover of three specialised heart machines to the Ministry of Health by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
On Wednesday, April 15, the Ministry of Health received three new echocardiography machines from the ACC to improve cardiac care in Samoa.
The official handover was held at Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital in Moto’otua, with government officials and senior staff from both organisations attending.
The new machines are expected to improve the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions, allowing doctors to provide faster and more accurate care for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
