Hash Harriers continue 10-year tradition with Goshen Trust
The Apia Hash House Harriers donated $15,000 in fundraising proceeds to Goshen Trust on 7 January at the Goshen Trust facility in Vailima, marking a decade-long tradition.

Ariane Stevenson, Chairperson of Apia Hash House Harriers, noted that they have been supporting the Goshen Trust for over 10 years through the Perimeter Relay event, which raises funds for community support.
“10 years ago, Goshen Trust came to our attention as an organisation that required support and had very little visibility in the community,” she said.
Initially drawn by a personal connection and the trust's limited visibility, she emphasised the importance of mental health services in Samoa. Their donations provide financial aid but also raise awareness of Goshen's existence and its critical role in the community.
The support extends beyond clients to educating families and the broader community on mental health, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the Goshen Trust's services.
CEO Afitu Naomi Eshraghi expressed her gratitude, noting that members of the Goshen board are also part of the Apia Hash House Harriers. She acknowledged the group’s 10 years of support, reflecting on how it began and how they have continued to assist Goshen during critical times. She concluded by thanking everyone on behalf of herself and the staff.
In a gesture of support for Goshen Trust, the former Head of State, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, and his wife, Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese, presented a $1,000 cheque to the organisation.

Vaoga Lipa, a board member of Goshen Trust, highlighted the organisation’s financial challenges and the importance of community support. He noted that the organisation has many obligations. “We do not have a budget, so we have to rely on donations,” said Vaoga.
