A male staff member of the Samoa Water Authority (SWA) who had been in critical care at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole (TTM) National Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following a vehicle accident in Savai’i almost two weeks ago has died.

SWA employee Feagaigafou Taulia was a front-seat passenger in an SWA vehicle when it crashed nearly two weeks ago in Samalaeulu. On Sunday evening, around 6 pm, he passed away in the ICU surrounded by his family, his sister Alepina Vavega told the Samoa Observer.

As of Monday morning, Feagaigafou remains at the hospital mortuary, and his body will be transported to Savai’i alongside his family members and his wife, Utugia Taulia.

“He has not left our minds,” said Vavega. “He was someone who loved his family, loved his sisters — he loved everyone.”

More to come.
