The recount for the first of the 11 constituencies is set to begin at the District Court. The ballot boxes for the Palauli No. 2 constituency were delivered to the courthouse in Mulinuu at around 1:25 pm on Tuesday.

The boxes had been held under police custody at the Multipurpose Gym in Tuanaimato before being taken to the Office of the Electoral Commissioner and then transported to the courthouse, where the recount will be conducted.

The recount is being carried out following an order issued by District Court Judge Talasa Atoa Saaga on 8 September.

The recount is set to finish on Thursday. It has still not be made known if the results of the recount would be announced later in the day or they would released at once by the court.
