After the official count for Vaimauga 3 constituency, the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) candidate, Taioaliiseu Fiti Aimaasu retained the seat with a difference of 126 votes over former Minister of Finance, Lautimuia Uelese Va'ai of the Samoa Uniting Party (SUP).

Vaimauga 3's official count was done in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Other candidates vying for the seat were Nonu Laulu Mauia of the Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) Party with 1096 votes and Siligatusa Alosina Ropati,  an independent candidate with 105 votes.

Vaimauga 3 had a total of 4005 valid votes with 358 special votes and 242 pre-polling.

As recorded, Vaimauga 3 seems to have the highest number of informal votes of 58 in total and one apparent dual vote.

Earlier on Monday, Electoral Commissioner Tuiafelolo John Stanley confirmed that there were errors during the initial counting and even in the processes after ballots were cast.
