Samoa Airways declared a $1 million dividend for the year ending 30 June 2025, staging a dramatic turnaround. The dividend follows a provisional profit after tax of $11 million for the year.

Samoa Airways said the transformation is nothing short of remarkable. Equity has swung by $87 million, shifting from a negative $54 million in June 2022 to a positive $33 million in June 2025.

Company debt has been slashed by $70 million, falling from $80 million to just $10 million over the same period. Most striking of all, Samoa Airways has delivered $87 million in net profits after tax over the past three years, a complete reversal from the $93 million in net losses suffered during the previous five years.

The $87 million of profits and improvements in equity were achieved through a $66 million assistance from the government through a $55 million write-off of the UTOS loan and $11 million direct assistance to pay off other old debts.

In addition to returning value to its shareholders, Samoa Airways confirmed that part of the profits will be reinvested in maintaining and upgrading its fleet. The second Twin Otter will be sent to Canada for a $10 million refit, with an expected return in February 2026.

Interim Managing Director and CEO, Fauo Taua Fatu Tielu, welcomed the result, saying that he is immensely proud of what has been accomplished in such a short time.

“Full credit must go first and foremost to our shareholders for their steadfast leadership and support, and equally to our valued Customers, whose loyalty and confidence have been instrumental in making this success possible," he said.

"The profits we have generated will also enable us to reinvest in our fleet, beginning with the planned upgrade of the second Twin Otter, ensuring continued reliability and service excellence.”

The Board of Directors acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the staff and management, whose commitment has been instrumental in this remarkable turnaround.

The Board of Directors confirmed its commitment to building on this momentum, ensuring Samoa Airways not only sustains its financial strength but continues to serve as a source of national pride and a driver of economic growth for Samoa.
