The Samoa Tag Teams made an impressive debut at the International Tag Series in Australia, with the Men’s Under-20s team dominating their opening day on Friday, 8 August.

The Under-20s squad came out strong, defeating Great Britain 13–2, Ireland 10–5, and Lebanon 7–6 — remaining undefeated as they advanced to the next stage of the competition. This marks their first appearance on the global stage.

“We are incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. Competing against some of the world’s strongest and most resourced nations, our teams have shown resilience, heart, and immense pride in representing Samoa,” said Muagututi’a Tenari Vaai, Captain of the Senior Men’s Team.

Despite facing resource challenges compared to bigger nations, Vaai says the team has turned that into motivation.

“The results so far are a testament to the hard work and determination of our players, management, and the support from our community back home. Our Under-20s remain undefeated heading into their next stage, and that speaks volumes about the talent and future of tag in Samoa,” he added.

The Samoa Tag leadership also extended thanks to the Chairman and President of Samoa Tag Incorporated for their vision and dedication, which made their participation possible.

“We look forward to carrying this momentum into the next rounds and continuing to make our nation proud,” added Muagututi’a Afoa Tenari Vaai, Captain of the Senior Men’s Team.
