A 36-year-old man who allegedly attacked and injured two teenagers with a machete pleaded not guilty before the Supreme Court on Monday.

Ale Fogaa of Amaile denied the charges through his lawyer, Fetu Lagaaia. He is charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and armed with a dangerous weapon.

Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma adjourned the matter to the week commencing 2 March 2026 for hearing.

Prosecution has opposed bail for the defendant due to the seriousness of the charges and how he allegedly attacked the two victims, a 19-year-old and a 13-year-old boy.

Lagaaia submitted a bail application for the defendant, and a bail hearing will be heard before Judge Justice Vui Clarence Nelson on 8 August.

The alleged incident occurred in June this year. The machete attack landed the two teenagers in the hospital with critical injuries.

The police reported that this was due to a land dispute, and the defendant allegedly used a machete to attack the victims.

The defendant has been remanded in custody to await the date of the bail hearing next month.
