Digicel Samoa reached a milestone earlier in the month with the launch of its 5G network expansion in Apia. With 20 live 5G sites, the whole urban area and surrounding suburbs of Apia, residential, commercial, and public places, are now covered with Digicel Samoa’s 5G network.

Digicel Samoa continues to lead the way in reliable connectivity and mobile infrastructure development. Its large-scale 5G coverage in Apia is the central aspect of Digicel Samoa’s major $13.5 million investment, complemented by the deployment of new mobile base stations and towers. These base stations and towers will offer stronger, speedier, and more efficient mobile coverage to urban communities, helping to bridge the digital divide and support national development.

Miss Samoa, Litara Allen, commented said Digicel Samoa’s 5G helps her stay connected with everyone.

"No more waiting for videos to load or posts to upload. Whether I’m sharing updates on my Miss Samoa journey or catching up with friends and family online, my 5G phone makes everything faster and smoother. It’s amazing to see this kind of technology right here in Samoa - fa’afetai Digicel Samoa, for helping us stay connected in a bigger and better way,” she said.

Digicel Samoa’s expansion of 5G in Apia shows Digicel Samoa’s aspiration to empower Samoans with world-class connectivity. Digicel Samoa customers in Apia with compatible 5G-enabled devices can now experience faster download speeds, high-definition video calling, and superior access to digital services. As Digicel Samoa continues its national mobile network expansion, the company is helping to drive Samoa’s digital transformation.

Digicel Samoa CEO, Karl Vizvary, emphasised the scale and significance of the project.

“We’ve built some of the most advanced mobile network base stations in Samoa to ensure Apia is fully covered with 5G. Digicel Samoa was the first to bring 5G to Samoa, and we remain committed to leading the way in mobile coverage and innovation. This investment is about more than speed, it’s about enabling economic growth, digital inclusion, and a better quality of life for all Samoans.”

Digicel Samoa continues to deploy new mobile towers across the country, expanding its coverage and connectivity even further.
