Samoa remained in the second spot of the Palau Pacific Mini Games medal tally as at 7.30 pm (Samoa time) on Wednesday.

Samoa had six gold ledala, one silver and four bronze. Tahiti led the tally with 27 gold medals, 13 silver and four bronze. Samoa's gold medal haul began with a win in the V1 500m Open Women's while two were added in wrestling.

Samoa's swimmers had a very good day in the pool as well. Paige Schendelaar-Kemp followed up her bronze medal from Tuesday with a gold medal win on Wednesday. She won the 100m Butterfly in an impressive time of 1 minute 1.16 seconds.

Paige keeps her strategy simple: “Head down, bum up, leave it in the pool,” focusing only on her race. She’s one to watch in her next events.

Salani Sa’aga also added another medal to Samoa’s count. She claimed her third bronze medal of the Games in the 400m Individual Medley with a strong time of 5 minutes 23.39 seconds.

Paige and Salani then teamed up with Johann Stickland and Hector Junior Langkilde in the 4x50m Mixed Medley Relay. The team worked well together to earn a bronze medal with a time of 1 minute 49.92 seconds.

Johann also reached his fourth final in the 50m Breaststroke, finishing in 29.65 seconds, whereas Hector made his third final in the 100m Butterfly with 56.85 seconds.

Samoa's medal tally is likely to increase on Thursday as the weightlifters start their competition. Archery and table tennis also starts Thursday while action will continue in the pools. Va'a competition will also be on.
