A six per cent dividend of $67.9 million, of which $45.5 million will be paid out in cash and $22.4 million will be deposited into members' accounts, was announced by the Samoa National Provident Fund (SNPF).

Members will be able to access their funds through the SNPF online portal and app from 12 am on 2 July.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Minister of Finance, Lautimuia Uelese Va’ai and SNPF Chief Executive Officer Lemalu Selesitina Meni‑Reti for the dividends for the 2024/2025 financial year.

Lautimuia said this year’s dividend surpasses returns from preceding years. He expressed gratitude towards the government, the CEO and the SNPF Board for approving a payout that continues to provide timely financial support to families, especially amid rising living and educational expenses.

Lemalu echoed this sentiment, highlighting SNPF’s commitment to balancing immediate financial relief with sustained savings growth.

This latest payout marks the second four  per cent cash distribution for 2024/2025 financial year. In February, the fund issued a similar “back-to-school” dividend, dispensing around $44 million to assist contributors with education-related expenses.

Combined, the two cash payouts constitute an eight  per cent return to members. In addition to the two per cent retained in member accounts, the total dividend distribution for the year stands at 10 per cent, or approximately $112 million.

As before, contributors with account balances above the specified threshold will receive cash disbursements, while those below it will have their dividend amounts credited directly to their accounts

Further instructions and deadlines are expected to be outlined on SNPF’s official website and communicated via media channels.

Historically, the SNPF has employed a dual-dividend strategy, distributing cash at strategic times and retaining a portion of returns to reinforce long-term fund stability.
