Teuila Festival cancelled
There will be no Teuila Festival this year. The Samoa Tourism Authority announced the cancellation of the Teuila Festival 2025 due to the General Election on 29 August.
In a notice, the STA said the election was aligned with the same week designated for the annual Teuila festival.
The Teuila Festival in Samoa is an annual, week-long celebration of Samoan culture, first held in 1991, and named after the national flower, the Teuila (red ginger). It aims to promote cultural awareness and tourism, showcasing traditional Samoan arts, music, dance, and sports.
Some of the activities that go on throughout the week include traditional performances, crafts and food markets, cultural preservation, and the finale, which is the Miss Samoa pageant, an event that highlights the grace and beauty of Samoan women.
The Teuila Festival is also marked by the Fautasi races.
The festival was not held during the pandemic and returned in 2023.
