Aiono resigns from MOH

Aiono Dr Alec Ekeroma has become the first public servant contesting the elections to tender his resignation which comes into effect on 30 June 2025.

Last week, Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) announced Aiono as a candidate for the A'ana Alofi No.2 constituency.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health issued a notice stating Aiono had resigned from his post as the Chief Executive Officer to contest the election.

According to the notice, he had intended to serve out his three-year contract until December but the snap elections changed that.
