'You are bitter': La'auli tells church leader
Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) chairman, Laauli Leuatea Schmidt, has hit back at Peace Chapel Pastor, Samoa Unoi, telling him not to get involved in politics and stick to praying for the nation.
Pastor Samoa, during his sermon at the launch of the Human Rights Protection Party's manifesto, said any political party that uses God's name is cursed.
La'auli has responded by saying the church minister is bitter because the party he supported did not win the 2021 elections.
Pastor Samoa had said that Samoa was in a disaster, and it was shattered.
"For us who serve as church ministers, we can relate. Before the 2021 election, the Government called for all ministers to attend a consultation on tax on church ministers. This was where I knew the CCCS church would change votes because one Reverend Elder said, "Tuilaepa and HRPP will rule Samoa", he had said.
He then continued to talk about the roadshow by FAST in 2021.
"Samoa has heard during the roadshows and words, it was there that I knew that this Government is a disaster. My wife, kids, and friends can vouch for me. Any party that puts God's name in its name will be cursed. They are cursed because democracy is a system. That is not God's system; God's system is the Kingdom," said the pastor.
"Secondly, God's words are serious. Seven things bring disaster and God's wrath. The last one is a conflict between families and siblings. There has not been one time that the country has ever been shattered like this. That is why I knew their rule would not end well. Now what? We've all witnessed it."
Laauli has retaliated that the servants of God should provide encouragement and not add fuel to the fire.
"Servants of God should be in the middle to resolve issues and pray every day for God's grace to intercede. None of us is perfect in God's eyes. Leave it to the Spirit of God to resolve the issue. I only say 'return to sender' to his words. This is the only thing we wanted to voice out. I rebuke him in the name of Jesus, we will return his words to him," La'auli said.
"With all due respect, Samoa Unoi, we will return all that you have said to you. Why? Because our FAST family has faith in God, we believe in the unity, peace and harmony for our country. But what you have stated, "whoever uses God's name is cursed", only means we have neglected the sacrifices our ancestors had made.
"Our belief is, this is God's timing in Samoa's Government. We will not accept these disrespectful and insulting remarks. We are humbled, but it will not ruin our FAST family. It is his resentment due to the loss of the political party that he supported in 2021, and the majority who are opposing our FAST family are his congregation members."
