Pre-polling date confirmed

The early general elections will kick start with pre-polling on 27 August, two days before the main polling.
Head of State, Tuimalealiifano Sualauvi Vaaletoa II confirmed the dates in the election writ issued on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the writ, the Head of State has appointed 29 August 2025 as the date for the general election and 27 August for pre-polling.
The latest date for the return of the writ is Monday, 8 September 2025.
Those eligible to pre-poll are government workers in essential services, those travelling on the week before election day, and persons with disabilities. People will have to apply to the Office of the Electoral Commissioner to be able to pre-vote.
Electoral Commissioner, Toleafoa Tuiafelolo Stanley said the dates for other electoral processes, including the nomination period and closing of roll, will be issued next Wednesday.
Office of the Electoral Commissioner (OEC) removed 10,758 deceased voters from the 2021 registration roll of 127,983, while Samoa’s voter registration drive has reached 59 per cent of the eligible voting population as of 8 pm Monday, 9 June.
The constituencies of Gagaifomauga No.2 and Gagaifomauga No.3 have exceeded the 100 per cent registration rate compared to Faleata 1 and Faleata 3. The two districts have the lowest number of registered voters, which is below 40 per cent.
The OEC has extended its working hours and opened up additional booths to accommodate voter registration.
Members of the public have swamped the registration booths from morning to night as the country prepares for the snap election.
Many people say they did not utilise the mass registration work from OEC going out in districts as they did not anticipate an early election.
