Akosita creates Vodafone history

Akosita Loamanu was appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Vodafone Samoa, the first woman ever to step into an executive role at the company, this week.
“I am honoured and excited to step into this role at such a pivotal time,” said Ms. Loamanu.
“As Vodafone Samoa continues to expand its digital infrastructure and services, I look forward to fostering innovation, strengthening our networks, and ensuring that our technology continues to improve lives across Samoa.”
For Loamanu, this achievement is more than just a professional milestone. It’s a deeply personal victory that reflects years of hard work, determination, and a trailblazing spirit. With over ten years of experience in the telecommunications sector, she has carved a path that blends technological expertise with visionary leadership.
Her journey with Vodafone Samoa has been one of steady growth and impact. From her early days as part of the company’s technical team to leading major projects in 5G, VoLTE, and eSIM technologies, Loamanu has consistently shown a knack for solving complex problems and driving innovation. Her leadership in digital transformation and revenue protection has helped Vodafone Samoa become a beacon of operational excellence in the Pacific.
“Akosita’s appointment is not just a proud moment for Vodafone Samoa, but a significant leap forward for gender representation in the tech and telecom sectors across the Pacific,” said Rana Bose, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Samoa.
“Her deep understanding of our business and technology and her visionary leadership will play a crucial role in steering our technology strategy into the future.”
She holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Information Technology and Information Systems from the University of the South Pacific, along with advanced certifications from leading tech giants like Cisco, Oracle, Huawei, and PacNog. Over the years, she’s also been recognised with numerous awards celebrating her contributions to innovation and performance.
Loamanu, who hails from the Pacific Islands, isn’t just breaking glass ceilings; she’s also setting an example for aspiring women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) across the region. Her appointment sends a powerful message: leadership roles in technology are no longer off-limits to women.
This historic appointment not only highlights Loamanu’s exceptional journey but also signals Vodafone Samoa’s commitment to inclusivity and progress. As the company turns a new page in its leadership story, the future looks promising and a little more equal.
