New top positions created at SNPF
Five new senior positions have been created at the Samoa National Provident Fund in what has been proposed as a major restructuring for the superannuation body.
The new positions are Deputy Chief Executive Officer Finance, People, Culture, ICT, Innovation and Legal Services, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Member Services, Pensions and Welfare, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Investments, Properties Projects and Procurements, Facilities Manager and Corporation Board Secretary.
The closing date for the application is 6 June 2025. The three Deputy CEO posts offer a salary of between $106,452 and $116,235. The Board Secretary post has a salary band between $72, 405 and $78, 548 while the Facilities Manager post comes with a salary band between $94,624 and $103,377.
This means the newly created posts result in a further expense of more than $500,000 annually for the SNPF. The role of the board secretary has always been the duty of the SNPF CEO.
Under the current SNPF management structure, these positions are non-existent. It is believed that the new positions are the result of a restructuring consultation that was undertaken by Faamausili Dr Matagialofi, and was paid $251,800 between September 2024 and May 2025.
An expression of interest was issued by SNPF in July 2024, inviting proposals from interested parties to undertake an organisational restructuring.
In responding to the questions sent by Samoa Observer about the restructuring, SNPF CEO Lemalu Selesitina Meni-Reti said she has no authority to comment on these confidential matters, and the Chairman of the Board is the only person who can answer these questions.
However, Papalii was not very happy when contacted by the Samoa Observer, threatening to sue this newspaper.
