Telecommunication provider, Digicel Samoa, officially launched a new mobile tower in the village of Sapapali’i, expanding its network coverage across the island of Savai’i. 

The launch event brought together government officials, village leaders, and representatives from Digicel Samoa in a celebration of improved digital access for rural communities. The new tower is expected to benefit more than 1,000 residents across five villages, providing them with faster and more reliable voice and data services.

The development is more than just a technological upgrade. It promises to unlock a range of vital services, including mobile banking, telehealth, online learning, and digital entertainment, bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusion in areas that have previously lacked sufficient connectivity.

Miss Samoa, Litara Allen, whose home village is among those now covered by the new tower, expressed heartfelt appreciation during the event.

 “This isn’t just about coverage – it’s about connection. Our students can now learn online, our elders can access health support closer to home, and our families can stay in touch more easily. On behalf of my village and the people of Savai’i, I want to thank Digicel Samoa for making this possible. This tower brings us closer to opportunity,” she said.
