CCCS women secure $4M for Papauta project

The Women’s Committee of the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (CCS) successfully secured a $4 million grant from the church’s Finance Committee to clear outstanding debts and complete final work on their newly constructed hall in Papauta.
The request was made in a formal letter addressed to the Church Chairman and the General Assembly, in which the Women’s Committee outlined the financial challenges they faced following the construction of the facility. The building, which began construction in 2024, was officially opened last month and was already used to host the Women’s Committee’s meetings during the two-week Annual General Assembly Conference, which concluded last Friday.
The new hall features 14 guest rooms, two large conference rooms, and 12 houses designed to accommodate members of the Women’s Committee. In their letter, the Women’s Committee also expressed gratitude to the church for its generous $800,000 donation toward the hall’s opening ceremony.
The Finance Committee approved the funding request but attached conditions, including the requirement for advisory input from the Women’s Committee and the wider congregation. These parties are expected to take part in negotiations with Bluebird Construction, the company responsible for the project. In addition, the hall’s project manager has been instructed to work closely with the Finance Committee to manage and finalise the remaining tasks.
The completion of the Papauta Hall marks a major milestone for the Women’s Committee, which hopes the facility will continue to serve the church and its ministries for years to come.
