Church approves school projects

During the recent Annual General Assembly Conference, several significant development projects for schools under the Congregation were reviewed and approved, marking a major step in improving educational facilities across Savai’i and Upolu.
The Finance Committee confirmed and accepted multiple project proposals aimed at enhancing school infrastructure and student services.
Among the most notable approvals was a grant of $800,000 designated for the repair and improvement of student shower facilities across all schools in Savai’i and Upolu. This initiative is expected to raise hygiene standards and the overall well-being of students.
Maluafou College submitted a proposal for the construction of a new garage to house trucks, ensuring vehicle safety and availability for school events. The project also includes repairing the main gate entrance to improve school security. The total budget requested was $800,000 and was approved by the committee, contingent upon the submission of a detailed final cost report.
Tuasivi College has approved a project involving the construction of two additional classrooms to accommodate the school’s growing student population. This expansion follows the earlier approval of a garage project. The College also received a separate approval for the construction of new bathroom facilities. The project was accepted and allocated funding of $800,000.
Papauta Girls College proposed an extensive renovation project, including repairs to the dining room, library, and bathroom facilities. According to the assessment conducted by Asiata Van Wright, the project was estimated at $1,293,263.06. While the proposal was accepted, it has been forwarded for further discussion before final implementation.
Additional approved projects include the construction of a new TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) building at Maluafou College and new safety rails at Nuuausala College.
In response to ongoing concerns about inadequate science and library facilities, the Congregation has also approved the construction of two new libraries and science laboratories for schools in Upolu, and one library and lab facility for schools in Savai’i.
These developments reflect the Congregation’s continued commitment to improving the quality of education and learning environments across its network of schools.
