Rev Palemia elected CCCS deputy chair

After more than 35 years of dedicated service to the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (CCCS), Reverend Elder Palemia Tauiliili Reupena was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the CCCS General Assembly for the 2025–2026 term.
The announcement was made during the final day of the church’s annual General Assembly conference held on Friday. Rev. Elder Reupena currently serves as the resident minister for the CCCS parish in Samalaeulu, Savai’i, and is the Elder overseeing the sub-district of Gagaemauga within the Itu-o-Tane district.
“I’m completely humbled. This is a very rare experience, and I'm glad that God has chosen me to be one of His servants in the church leadership,” said Rev. Elder Reupena in a statement following his appointment.
Family members, friends, and parishioners gathered to congratulate him and offer their blessings and support as he steps into this significant leadership role within the CCCS.
Reverend Enefatu Lesa, who was elected as Deputy Chairman earlier this week, has now automatically assumed the role of chairman for the 2025–2026 term, following the retirement of outgoing Chairman Reverend Elder Tunumoso Iosia, who had served since 2023.
Reflecting on his journey, Rev. Elder Reupena shared that serving the Lord has always been his calling. “I will give it my all to serve Him through this position as Deputy Chairman for the church,” he affirmed.
Rev. Elder Reupena’s ministry began in 1990, following his graduation from Malua Theological College in 1989. He had entered the theological field at the age of 29, beginning his studies in 1986. “I enjoyed it with all my heart,” he recalled.
Now 65, Rev. Elder Reupena credits his Christian upbringing for shaping his path in ministry. His election as Deputy Chairman marks a milestone in a life devoted to faith, service, and leadership in the CCCS.
The 2025 annual general assembly conference of the CCCS concluded on Friday, marking the end of a pivotal gathering where key matters concerning the church and its members were addressed. As per the organisation's protocol, such issues could only be deliberated upon in the presence of the full executive body. The final item on the agenda was the appointment of the new deputy chairman, officially concluding the conference proceedings.
