The Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Finance, Saoleititi Maeva Betham–Vaai has been reappointed to the leading role. She was the sole applicant for the position.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Finance, Lautimuia Uelese Vaai, noting that the cabinet endorsed the reappointment of Saoleititi in its meeting last week.

Lautimuia added that the position was advertised twice, and Saoleititi was the sole applicant for whom the Public Service Commission (PSC) handled the recruitment process and prepared the cabinet paper.

This is the second term of office for Saoleititi, who was initially appointed as the Ministry’s boss in March 2022.

Prior to taking over the CEO position, she was in charge of the World Bank’s Apia office and had been the Assistant CEO for MOF for years up until 2006.

Saoleititi is also the chairperson of the Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP) Steering Committee.

The CSSP congratulated the CEO for her reappointment, noting her “leadership brings confidence and stability to our collective efforts in supporting community development and empowering civil society across Samoa”.

“Her reappointment is a testament of her dedication, strong leadership and unwavering commitment to public service,” said CSSP.
