In a remarkable achievement,  22-year-old Wallace Sititi was awarded the All Blacks Player of the Year for 2024 adding his name to the list of elite players from Samoa who have done this feat.

He told the Samoa Observer that he felt proud as a Samoan to win the award.

The young athlete, the son of former Manu Samoa captain Lemalu Semo Sititi, hails from the villages of Alafua, Lotopa, Sataua, Tufulele, and Poutasi.

Sititi's triumph follows his recent recognition as the World Rugby Men's 15's Breakthrough Player of the Year, a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer, he expressed immense pride in representing the Samoan youth in rugby on the global stage.

"Having young Samoan kids see that someone from their own blood can achieve this is special for me, and I hope it's something the younger generation can use as motivation and inspiration," said Sititi

"I always have a special spot for Samoa, and I'm always going to be proud to be Samoan."

Reflecting on his season, Sititi highlighted the All Black's victory against England 24-22 at Twickenham as one of his most memorable moments. He also added that it was a privilege playing alongside rugby legends such as Sam Cane and TJ Perenara.

Sititi also took time to advise young Samoan athletes striving for success, urging them to believe in themselves and work hard.

"Make sure you keep your standards high because when the opportunity comes, that's when you take it with both hands," he said.

"Especially behind closed doors, work hard so that when it's time to shine, all that effort comes to light."

As the recognition continues to pour in, Sititi remains humble and grateful, emphasizing the importance of faith and integrity.

"Keep praying, glory to God always, and just enjoy the moment," he said.
