Bank raises $5K in 'Pinktober'
A local bank and its staff raised $5,000 for the Samoa Cancer Society through their Pinktober Campaign.
The month of October has been dubbed Pinktober, and the colour pink signifies awareness of breast cancer. This is the most common form of cancer that affects women in Samoa.
BSP Samoa hosted Leituala Dr. Ben Matalavea, who delivered a presentation on cancer awareness as the official conclusion of BSP’s month-long Pinktober Campaign.
“Traditionally focused on breast cancer awareness, BSP broadened this year’s campaign to address all forms of cancer, recognising those who continue their fight and honouring the memories of those who have lost their battle,” said the bank in a statement.
To show their support, BSP staff proudly wore pink uniforms throughout the month, symbolising solidarity with the cancer awareness movement. Through collective fundraising efforts, they raised $5,000, which was presented to the Samoa Cancer Society to support their ongoing cancer awareness programs and outreach initiatives.
“BSP is committed to promoting health and wellness within the community and extends its gratitude to its staff for their generosity and dedication to making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer,” said the bank.
