A Filipino national transiting through Samoa this month has denied the allegations of having meth and will be trialed in December this year.

Arianne Fae Timblique appeared before Supreme Court Judge Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke on Monday and was represented by lawyer Sine Koria.

The foreigner pleaded not guilty to two charges namely possession of narcotics and possession of ammunition.

Prosecution and Attorney General’s Office lawyer, Maiavatele Timothy Fesili sought to have the hearing on 10 March next year.

The defence objected and called for an early trial noting the defendant was not from Samoa and it was accepted by the prosecution.

Justice Clarke has scheduled the hearing on 9 December and the defendant remains on the same bail conditions until then.

According to Police Commissioner, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo the Filipino national arrived around 2 p.m. on 4 July from American Samoa transiting through the Faleolo airport heading to Fiji.

Police report alleged the woman came out of the airport and checked in again early Saturday morning and while going through screening the machine raised the alarm on a bullet in her possession.

Auapaau said upon being searched by aviation security, they allegedly found four packets containing methamphetamine weighing 0.83 grams.

The Commissioner is not ruling out the possibility of the foreigner allegedly bringing the drugs with her from the territory or picking them up while in Samoa for her brief transit.
