All quiet during Mother's Day weekend

It was a quiet Mother's Day for Samoa. The public holiday provided many families to get together and spend time doing various activities and the rain could not dampen their spirits.
Samoa Observer came across groups of children at the Tuvao Mangrove in the village of Moataa. The group spent the day swimming and jumping off the bridge.
"We are just enjoying this long weekend and trying to stay out of trouble," they told Samoa Observer.
Speaking with this newspaper Sita Viliamu of Fagalii village stated that it has been a chill day for them. Many of their villagers have been indoors, and some have been drinking but there were no unsavoury incidents.
"Usually around the public holidays, you would hear parties and a lot of people driving around, but it's been a rather chill and resting day. It's been pouring a lot lately so I guess that's why many have opted to sleep in and just chill," she said.
Although the Samoa Meteorology Office has been sending out updates on heavy rain and possible flooding, many families have taken the notices seriously and considered safer options to just remain settled in their households.
"Home is safer, we just need to rest" stated Levitiko Taito who had just returned from seasonal work.
"With the current weather, it's rather safe to just remain indoors and lay low, as much as you want to go out, I'd rather stay indoors."
