In a bid to expand environmental awareness and strengthen crucial infrastructure, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (M.N.R.E.) opened the groundbreaking national campaign "Samoa CARES" alongside the launch of a revamped website and a new state-of-the-art drilling rig.

The launch event took place at the Meteorology Services Samoa Office on April 12, 2024, heralding a new era of environmental stewardship and technological advancement.

At the heart of this initiative is "Samoa CARES," an educational crusade aimed at fostering Climate Adaptation, Resilience, and Enhancement of Samoa.

The campaign is designed to instill better environmental practices among citizens, emphasizing behavioral changes and community engagement.

Notably, "CARES" underscores the importance of collective responsibility, urging individuals to combat littering and embrace sustainable actions.

The campaign is multifaceted, with a strong emphasis on media outreach to reshape attitudes and behaviors.

At the same time, Samoa CARES has forged a partnership with the Peace Corps teacher volunteer program to integrate environmental education into local school curriculums, ensuring the principles of sustainability resonate with future generations.

Accompanying the launch is the unveiling of MNRE's revamped website, boasting a modern and intuitive design to enhance user experience.

The website overhaul prioritizes accessibility, speed, and personalized navigation, reflecting MNRE's commitment to transparent and user-friendly digital engagement.

This redesign aims to facilitate easy access to vital environmental resources and information, empowering stakeholders with actionable insights.

The Meteorology Division under MNRE, in significant progress towards modernization, introduced a new drilling rig to bolster geotechnical services across Samoa.

Serving as the sole provider of these critical services in the nation, the division's upgraded capabilities will support essential assessments of ground conditions for development projects.

The new rig, procured through allocated budget funds and sourced from Henan Runbay Machinery Co. Ltd in China, promises enhanced efficiency and performance compared to its predecessor from 2006.

MNRE's investment in advanced infrastructure underscores its dedication to supporting sustainable development and strengthening environmental resilience.

The upgraded drilling rig signifies a pivotal step towards improving geotechnical services, ensuring Samoa is well-equipped to navigate future challenges while preserving its natural heritage.

As Samoa embraces this transformative campaign and invests in cutting-edge infrastructure, "Samoa CARES" embodies a holistic approach towards safeguarding the environment and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.

Through education, innovation, and strategic investments, Samoa is charting a sustainable path forward in harmony with its natural surroundings.
