The devastated family of a young woman who tragically died in a crash while heading to a wedding in regional NSW disclosed that she was pregnant.

Shellymaine Ah Foon, 32, was traveling to Mudgee for a wedding with her partner and two young daughters when their SUV was involved in an accident at Aarons Pass around 2 pm on Friday.

Foon was rushed to Mudgee Hospital, where she passed away shortly afterward. Her partner Troy sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Westmead Hospital.

Their two daughters, aged two and six, were also taken to the same hospital. The collision occurred just after Foon had shared some incredible news with her family, according to a relative who preferred to remain anonymous.

"We spoke to Shelly on Thursday night, and she revealed she was pregnant," the relative told 7NEWS.com.au.

"She was scheduled to undergo tests upon her return from Mudgee to determine how far along she was." Describing Foon as a "social butterfly," the family member emphasized her strong family values and generosity with her time.

"She was incredibly family-oriented, always ready to assist anyone in need, very selfless with her time," she said. "And she never missed church on Sundays.

"She had a way of connecting with everyone, striking up conversations effortlessly. "Her passing has deeply affected an entire community of people."

The family is now awaiting the Coroner's completion of a death certificate in Newcastle before arranging funeral services.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral expenses and to support Foon's family, most of whom reside overseas.

The family expressed their desire to aid Foon's partner Troy, who underwent surgery on Sunday, including the insertion of a metal rod in his leg and plates and screws in his arm due to injuries sustained in the accident.

"Troy will be unable to work while he recuperates," the woman explained. "He still has rehabilitation ahead and will rely on crutches for some time."

The two young girls have been discharged from the hospital and are now under the care of family members while Troy recovers from surgery.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The 54-year-old driver of the utility vehicle involved was transported to Mudgee Hospital with minor injuries and for mandatory testing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the police.
