A 31-year-old who was stabbed over the head by his older brother as a result of differences has forgiven his brother.

What’s more, the victim who is recovering from the attack has supported an application by Ieremia Manu Leilua, for bail.

Leilua, 44, stabbed his brother with a knife at Falefa two weeks ago.

He was arrested and has since been in custody.

Yesterday, the matter was brought before the Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu.

Lawyer, Pa’u Mulitalo, represented the accused man.

Leilua is charged with actual bodily harm and being armed with a dangerous weapon.

He pleaded guilty to both charges.

According to Pa’u, Leilua has been in custody since the day he was arrested and he wants to be freed.

In his bail application, Pa’u said the victim has forgiven his client. He said the brothers have settled their differences and the younger brother was willing to write a letter to support the bail application.

The Court was also told that the accused man has a full time job and he had responsibilities he needed to attend to.

In response, Chief Justice Patu granted bail on the condition that Leilua resides at Saina Faleata and surrenders his travel documents. He is also required to report to the Police office every Wednesday until 18 April 2016 when he is scheduled to be sentenced.

The Court ordered Leilua not to set foot in Falefa again.
