The body of a man who went out fishing with his younger brother in Samata-tai was recovered a day later after a police search on Sunday morning.

The 35-year-old went fishing with his younger brother on Saturday night when the incident occurred.

Police Commissioner, Aupaau Logotino Filipo said the deceased was reportedly struck by a wave while he cast a fishing rod and fell into the sea.

“He is suspected to have died from drowning,” said Auapaau.

“According to reports when the man fell into the sea his younger brother went out to report it to villagers.

“Police and villagers went out to search for him on Sunday morning and found his body.”

The body of the deceased is currently at the morgue in Tuasivi Savaii.

The police are asking the members of the public to be careful even when fishing from land. Their advisory comes in light of the bad weather and heavy waves that are being experienced in some parts of the country.
