Fiji Airways clears air on luggage
Passengers who were impacted by the Fiji Airways FJ253 flight, took to social media to voice their frustration on the delay of the arrival of their luggage.
Last week, Fiji Airways via a letter to one of the passengers cleared the air on the reason for the disruption of the passengers’ luggage which was due to weight restrictions.
The letter was posted on the “We Are Samoa” Facebook page to inform all passengers who were affected and were not informed of the reason behind their luggage delay.
“We sincerely apologise that your bags were not loaded on your flight today from Nadi to Apia due to weight restrictions. We will try our very best to uplift bags on the next available flight to Apia,” the letter stated.
“We will then arrange for delivery to your selected address as a matter of priority. Please leave your contact details and delivery address with our airport staff who will contact you when the bags are received and arrange for delivery.
“Please feel free to use this letter for insurance purposes together with a copy of your e-ticket and boarding pass.
“Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for understanding. “
One of the passengers, Theresa Va’a said to have experienced the same problem with a Fiji Airways flight on Tuesday last week.
"We arrived in Samoa on Tuesday last week and didn't get anything delivered or communicated to us after leaving our details upon arrival in Samoa," she posted on Facebook.
"It wasn't until we went to the airport yesterday (Saturday) that our bags had arrived on Friday! And they were damaged, one akopa'u was missing a padlock as well, lucky nothing was taken out. The ground staff at Faleolo told us that this was the condition of our luggage upon offloading in Samoa!! Do better Fiji Airways we had family arrive on Thursday night and still haven't received their luggage."
Samoa Observer understands that other affected passengers expressed similar sentiments on social media.
